Relationships of priming effects with organic amendment composition and soil microbial properties

چکیده
Soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration through the application of amendments (OAs) is considered an important strategy to offset anthropogenic CO2 emissions while simultaneously enhancing soil quality and food security. The efficiency SOC sequestration, however, depends on priming effect which influenced by interactions OA composition with microbial response variables (MRVs). Yet, there remain large uncertainties surrounding mechanisms relationships defining these interactions, hampering identification OAs most effective for hindering inclusion dynamics in models. In this study therefore, we performed integrated assessment a cropland amended wood chips, waterway residues, isotopically enriched road-verge grasses, compost, bokashi. Changes 11 properties effects (for labelled OAs) were monitored 150 days related 22 characterizations composition. We demonstrate that i) hot water extractable total ratios are superior predictors effects, ii) dissolvable hot-water closely variation MRV expressions, iii) correlate significantly changes several MRVs. Findings advocate adoption energetic principles modelling predicting microbially-mediated suggest high concentrations – potentially achievable composting, but not fermenting, prior can allow more efficient sequestration.

Effects of inorganic and organic amendment on soil chemical properties, enzyme activities, microbial community and soil quality in yellow clayey soil
Understanding the effects of external organic and inorganic components on soil fertility and quality is essential for improving low-yielding soils. We conducted a field study over two consecutive rice growing seasons to investigate the effect of applying chemical fertilizer (NPK), NPK plus green manure (NPKG), NPK plus pig manure (NPKM), and NPK plus straw (NPKS) on the soil nutrient status, en...

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of biochar amendment on soil aggregate formation and stability, and soil hydraulic properties. Biochar produced from dairy manure was added to two different soils (a silty clay and a sandy loam soil) at a ratio of 2% (w/w in dry weight basis). Incubation experiments were conducted within a 90-d period with the soils (the controls) and the soi...

A strategic selection of tree species will shift the type and quality of litter input, and subsequently magnitude and composition of the soil organic carbon (SOC) through soil microbial community. We conducted a manipulative experiment in randomized block design with leaf litter inputs of four native subtropical tree species in a Pinus massoniana plantation in southern China and found that the ...
متن کاملEffects of Soil Organic Matter Properties and Microbial Community Composition on Enzyme Activities in Cryoturbated Arctic Soils
Enzyme-mediated decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM) is controlled, amongst other factors, by organic matter properties and by the microbial decomposer community present. Since microbial community composition and SOM properties are often interrelated and both change with soil depth, the drivers of enzymatic decomposition are hard to dissect. We investigated soils from three regions in the...

The re-establishment of autochthonous shrub species is an essential strategy for recovering degraded soils under semiarid Mediterranean conditions. A field assay was carried out to determine the combined effects of the inoculation with native rhizobacteria (Bacillus megaterium, Enterobacter sp, Bacillus thuringiensis and Bacillus sp) and the addition of composted sugar beet (SB) residue on phys...
